Wendy Mullin is a licensed Funeral Director and certified End-of-this-Life Doula.
She founded Departing Dearly and Good Mourning in 2019 following the death of her mother - an experience that revealed how unprepared and under-informed most people are at the end of life.
Wendy’s background is in design. She founded the clothing brand Built by Wendy in New York in 1991, growing it into an internationally recognized label with four flagship stores and authoring a series of instructional sewing books. In 2010, the brand evolved into a multidisciplinary studio spanning fashion, film, and interiors.
Her work has consistently been driven by a focus on design, education, and sustainability. This led to the creation of Kiosk Mobile Utilities, a cleantech startup providing essential infrastructure for off-grid environments. She is a member of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and Women in Cleantech and Sustainability.
Wendy founded Departing Dearly to redesign how we approach death and dying - creating new systems that better serve the living and the world we leave behind.
